Rationale and ideas

For this project i wanted to do something personal and different, whilst considering collections, so i began by gathering inspiration online. I came across some good stop motion films, which is an area i've enjoyed because it involves photography, so i thought of how i could use this within my project, which is where i came up of the idea of flipbooks.
for the book theme and content, i wanted to apply my personal likes and skills, whilst doing something challenging, so i came up with the idea of documenting 'movement in nature', by creating a number of flipbooks that contained small 'animations' of natural movement, such as small clips of waves and clouds. I considered that by making a number of small flipbooks, this would be a collection of natural elements, which would be personal to me yet hopefully intriguing to the viewers. Because this project is held over christmas, this is the perfect opportunity for to to explore natural scenery and elements in my hometown in wales, But this also means that with the time of year and unpredictable weather, some of my photo opportunities will be limited.
i plan to hire a camera from college which will have a fast shutter release to get good motion shots, and using my tripod for stability. in my sketchbook i hope to jot down ideas of what to photograph, flip book ideas and general inspiration, but to use my blog for video inspiration and to show my stop motion images. through out the project i want to keep experimenting with book binding techniques but to also keep looking up stop motion videos for ideas, this will hopefully keep me updated and involved in the project. for my other piece, i hope to produce a stop motion film, possibly of day to night, but i will have to research more into this, this also applies for my postcard. for my end book result, i hope to end up with between 10 and 15 books, all with a selection of natural stop motions in a range of styles and colours.
